Today in class we listened to the Audible book version of September 18 in Tangerine.   This is Paul's first day at Tangerine Middle School.  We marked the text for details we noticed about the new school which are different from Lake Windsor.  Then we discussed and listed those on a compare/contrast organizer.

Wednesday's Writing Prompt

On Wednesday you did a close read of pp. 61-64 in Tangerine.  You were asked to code the text for F (Feelings)  and T (Thoughts) which you noticed Paul is having.  Next , you took notes on a graphic organizer about those notes.

Finally, you were assigned a writing prompt:

Describe the big event in the section you read aloud in class.  Next, describe how Paul reacted to the event.  Include text evidence/quotes/quotation marks.  Due Thursday.  Preferred typed.

ELA Monday

ELA today:

Today in class you participated ( I hope) in a  discussion at your table  about what you believe are all the “Gripes and Disappointments” which Paul has experienced so far and written about in his journal.   Your recorder  listed these events on one paper, shared them whole class, and saw a final poster created of the group's overall insights.   


Each of you choose one of Paul’s biggggggest gripes.  Create a visual which shows the What, the Who, the Why, the When, the Where of this MAJOR gripe.  INclude a caption and some text on this visual.  These will be displayed in the room.  We’ll work on them for a few days.  

Please read to p. 64 in Tangerine by Monday.
