2. You will be writing a lot in class on Wednesday with your substitute teacher. Please be SURE you complete this task assigned today and have it ready for ME (Mrs. Leighton) to see on Thursday. It is a graded assignment:
Revise in 2 different places within your personal narrative. Revise to add descriptive details that make the writing more interesting. Color the parts of the text you newly revise.
When I look back on that summer day oh so many years ago, that day I decided to “be Ricky’s girlfriend,” I totally realize just how young and gullible and trusting I was. Gosh, when I think about it today, I believe I was practically a baby, the summer of my 8th grade year, to be making decisions to agree with some older boy that I would be his girlfriend. I wish I had had the advice of an older sister or some trusted friend who would have sat me down and said, Jacquie, Jacquie, Jacquie. Just because Ricky is cute and all your friends are beginning to flirt and date, does not mean it’s the right thing for you to do. Ask yourself: Do you really like him? Are you going out with him for the right reasons.
I know today I didn’t do it for the right reasons. “The Kiss” really cramped my social life for a few years because no way, Jose, was I taking any risks and kissing like that again! Bleck! I never followed the leader like that again. It really toughed me up and taught me to stand on my own two feet. Of course, fortunately he was a lousy kisser so I was totally motivated to end it!! Oh, I should have listened to my heart that time, not my head!
I am in school today but will have a substitute teacher for my classes because I'll be working in a different way today. I am giving reading assessments to a few students which takes me away from my regular teaching today. You will see me around though. Please do the best you have in you to treat your substitute with respect. You have a responsibility to be the best you can be on sub days. These times are challenges. Are you up for it?
I am looking for several of you to post your latest personal narratives on Google Docs. I have scored all of the ones I have received and left Comments for final drafting. We are nearly ready for the final editing stage of a final draft. However, I did not see several documents which should have an October 31 time stamp.
Will the following students please post this assignment or see me if there is a problem:
Macey, Jacob, Isaac, Shannon, Bryce, and Breanna.
Thank you! I hope to hear great news from your sub. Have a good day everyone.
