7T only:  Better Answer Protocol:  "Jack and the Beanstalk"  assigned and collected today.

Question:  Why do you think the giantess in the fairy tale "Jack and the Beanstalk" helps  Jack?

Read:  Jack and the Beanstalk here <------------

The Better Answer Protocol:
Part 1. A.  Introduction:  Write the background info for the reader about what you read...                 B. General/Gist:  Your basic response in one topic sentence.

Part 2:  Details for evidence taken from the text.

Part 3:   Concluding statement:

Question:  How did Little Red Riding Hood know that the character in the bed was not her grandmother?

Little Red Riding Hood is a fairy tale I remember hearing when I was a kid.  LRRH knew that the character in the bed was NOT her grandma!  She knew it was not her grandmother because it didn’t look like her our sound like or  come across as grammy at all.  The thing in bed had big fluffy feet, hands, big teeth, big ears, big eyes, and a very big mouth.  LRRH wasn’t a dummy.  She knew that was not her grandma!!  Those are the reasons why I think in the story LRRH the main character Red knew that wasn’t her sweet old grandma.

A Sample Observation Report: Find the present tense verbs

A Rainy Day in 7T!
An Observation Report
April 9,  2013
written  by Jacquie Leighton

First, I notice a general sense of restlessness in the classroom.  I hear several conversations students have going.  Four classmates sit a desk cluster of 4 with their laptops open;  the screens reflect blue light.  They chat quietly.  One student has a low alto voice which interjects into the conversation.  One student listens intently, but speaks very little.  She grins, her dimples and rosy cheeks prominent.  Another students nods her head in agreement with the “alto.”
Next, I notice another group of students, this time only 3 students sit in the comfortable seats in the far right corner by a large stand of books.  Feet tap, the three share a joke, laughter erupts and it appears the three enjoy one another’s company.
The remains of a whole wheat bagel are found on one desk...crumbs remain.  Strawberry cream cheese aroma lingers.  A few swallow bites of a bagel a snack and ask for more.  Suddenly everyone is silent and a hush falls over the whole room.  The chattering completely stops.  The sound of small fan whirs and leaves of a notebook page turn.
One student stares intently at her computer screen.  Blue light illuminates her face while the rest of her is in shadow.  Her reading glasses reflect the images of the screen.
