Greetings From the West Coast

Dear Students,
I wanted you to know I've arrived ! My husband and I had a long flights (10 hrs total) but a smooth, ontime one. Yay! We arrived last night 10:30 PM, Pacific time. 1:30AM Eastern! The weather here is in the 90's but the evenings it drops down to the 60's. Go look at the map of the US on 7L Homeroom and look for Eastern Washington, where the Snake and Columbia Rivers meets. That's where I am!

Please write back and let me know how you are doing.

Your teacher,
Mrs. Leighton

Letter to Mrs. Leighton

Dear Students,

You've watched a short video about a web tool called a Blog. Write back to me and imagine I've never heard of a blog. Explain blogs and blogging to me. You may want to review the video one more time and jot down main points about blogs and blogging. Then use your notes to write a letter to me. Conventions are important to double check CUPS before posting.

Be sure to use friendly letter format and sign only your first name and last initial. Post your comment on this post.

Oh, try to use your imagination too....I have NEVER heard of a blog. Right? Right. Happy writing.

Yours truly,
Mrs. Leighton

Basics - Creating an account

Basics - Creating an account

Click on the link to set up your Google account. You will need an email address to do this. The process is relatively easy. Be sure to remember your Google password. We will be using several Google web tools this year and the first will be this blog.

What is a blog?

You will contribute to 3 different blogs throughout the year. You are not permitted to begin any blogs yet. If you have a blog because you've created one at home with your folks knowledge, you certainly have the privilege of blogging at home.

I have not instructed any seventh classes to begin blogging...only to begin learning about this web tool. Two eighth graders began blogs last year (as seventh graders). These students had parental permission and learned the basics from me first!

Watch this demonstration to learn more about blogs and blogging.
